#DigiInventorsChallenge in association with Glasgow Warriors

Will you do whatever it takes to inspire Scotland’s and the UAE's young people to get and keep active, improve their physical, mental health, and happiness?

What is it?

The #DigiInventorsChallenge, in association with Glasgow Warriors and the Digital Health & Care Innovation Centre (DHI) is now entering its fifth year and is going from strength to strength.

We're on a mission to find smart new ways to help Scotland's and the United Arab Emirates' (UAEs') young people keep active, staying healthy and happy, now and in the future.

The challenge itself is very simple – we want you to identify health and care challenges that you face on a daily basis (it could be friends or family living with diabetes, asthma, Alzheimer's, or something completely different) and ask you to come up with a digital idea that could potentially be transformed into a real digital solution.

When is it?

The #DigiInventorsChallenge takes place between August 2021 and December 2021.

This year we're going global and are running a parallel competition with the UAE's young people and will be showcasing both our Scottish and UAE winners as part of Scotland's contribution to Expo 2020 Dubai between 31 January and 01 February 2022.

Before then we'll have our 2-day virtual bootcamp, our virtual final (where you'll present to our panel of expert judges), and the opportunity to work with our partners to develop your winning idea into a Minimal Viable Project (MVP).

We've partnered with dressCode to create exciting resources to help with your teaching, learning, and ideas.

How do I enter?

In mixed teams of three or four (supported by at least one adult mentor, over the age of 21), we want you to develop an idea that empowers Scotland’s & the UAE's young people to participate in the active management of their health, fitness and wellbeing, using digital technology.

We’ve all heard of apps that analyse diet and mood, watches that monitor heart rates, and games that promote exercise. What new idea can you come up with?

Submit your idea and, hopefully, you’ll be shortlisted to attend our 2-day virtual boot camp to learn about digital health and care, develop entrepreneurship, business, and technical skills and understand future career routes.

Along the way, you’ll be supported by the Glasgow Warriors as you tackle the challenges of developing a business plan to drive forward your idea before finishing with a presentation to our panel of expert judges.
