The DHI are awarding an academic grant on behalf of the Scottish Government for a piece of consultancy to inform the implementation of the Scottish Digital Health and Care Strategy published in 2018.

We are looking for interested academics to undertake a review of best international practice in Information Governance (IG) and Information Assurance (IA) models used for making decisions over data from the public sector used at national scale, with a particular focus on health and social care data, but not exclusively.

The purpose of this work package is to prepare a report on international IG and IA models focused on:

  • legislation
  • policy
  • processes
  • people
  • products/services
  • structures (groups/bodies/institutions)
  • infrastructures (safe heavens, etc.)
  • data (data/IG services)

This report is required to collate feedback from interviews sustained with a selection of countries and literature review of existing studies or reports, and will describe and summarise the ways countries, other than Scotland, have resolved their public sector health and social care data challenges.
