Scottish Enterprise is working on an EU Horizon funded project with partners across Europe called Connecting Health. The project is a “preparatory action” – it’s focus is on mapping the EU digital health ecosystem and foster interconnected, inclusive innovation ecosystems across Europe.

The project is led by the European Connected Health Alliance (ECHAlliance) and the main partner organisations are:

  • Scottish Enterprise (Region: Scotland)
  • Panon Business Network (Region: Western Hungary)
  • and Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences (SeAMK) (Region: South Ostrobothnia in Finland).

Eurosante (Region: Northern France) and Cluster Saúde de Galicia (Region: Galicia) are formal minor partners and we will engage with a range of other organisations during the project.

The project is looking to map the landscape of digital health ecosystems in Europe will help identify the composition, key initiatives, projects, networks as well as governmental, societal, academic and industrial partners.

As part of the EU Connecting Health project, Scottish Enterprise are involved in a number of work packages. The activities include workshops and mapping of the ecosystem and, working on a ‘Health for Wealth’ report on Scotland.

Mapping of the digital health ecosystems landscape & strategic foresight

Have you ever imagined a map showing the digital health ecosystems in and around Europe? It could be possible!

The definition of an ecosystem is: “Digital health ecosystems are permanent multi-stakeholder partnerships, focused on a region or a theme. They are committed to working together to implement innovative digital health solutions that break down silos, transform healthcare and create economic opportunities by connecting needs with solutions.”

The purpose of the interactive map is to foster the digital transformation and sustainability of digital health by connecting relevant stakeholders.

If you are part of a digital health ecosystem and would like to be on the map, please click here.

The project will develop an action plan that fosters collaboration and drives the future of digital health, including funding and investments in the sector. To input to the action plan, a series of futures workshops will take place. It will be an opportunity to discuss digital health with stakeholders - opportunities and challenges of the digital health sector in 2030.

Scottish Enterprise is running the workshops on Virtual Clinical trials on the 18th of January  2023, Digital Health Data on the 19th of January 2023, and a workshop on Personalised Nutrition in February 2023.
