Abigail Lyons
Senior Business Innovation Manager
Dr Abigail Lyons joined DHI as Senior Business Innovation Manager in November 2022 and is responsible for working with commercial industry partners to identify and develop collaborative opportunities for the expansion of digital health and care in Scotland.
Abby brings breadth of experience in economic development and innovation, and depth in Health & Life Sciences and commercialization. She qualified in Immunology and Molecular Biology more years ago than she cares to remember and her career since has woven through the triple helix of industry, academia and the public sector in Scotland and the US.
She has experience of different healthcare systems as a researcher and patient at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee and at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, and from working as a product development scientist in the Cardiac Surgery division of Medtronic. She was a programme manager at Scottish Enterprise for 15 years during which time she developed and managed complex multi-partner initiatives across a range of sectors. In her most recent position at SE, Abby led collaborative teams to commercialise customer-centric technologies and deliver investor-ready spin-out companies.
In her spare time, Abby is a keen baker, aspiring writer and rusty musician.
