Dr Ann Wales's strategic portfolio includes design, development and implementation of a range of knowledge mobilisation and artificial intelligence solutions to support health and care priorities. This includes innovations built on knowledge-based expert systems and data-driven AI.

Ann is also the health representative on the Board of the Scottish Library and Information Council, where she leads and sponsors cross-sectoral developments to strengthen the role of public, school and NHS libraries in health literacy and self-management in the community.

Previously, Ann was Programme Manager for Knowledge and Decision Support in Scottish Government eHealth. She has also been Programme Director for Knowledge Management in NHS Education for Scotland. Here she led development and delivery of the Knowledge Network as the national digital knowledge service for health and social care. She has developed national knowledge strategy for health and social care in Scotland and Republic of Ireland.
