Harriet is a design researcher interested in participatory design, democratic approaches and community engagement. She explores effective ways of working with people to explore and develop their local areas through participatory design and sensory methods, with the aim of supporting people and places to be healthy and sustainable.
Alongside this role, Harriet also works as Community Engagement Officer at GSA. Her work focuses on exploring ways for the school to better connect, partner and work with the surrounding areas of Garnethill and Blythswood. From 2019-2021 she undertook a part-time Masters of Research project based at the Innovation School, which aimed to explore how participatory design methods can be utilised with local residents to co-develop and design a long term, embedded and sustainable engagement framework between GSA and its local area. Before this she completed a Master of Design in Design Innovation and Environmental Design at GSA.
