Madeline Smith is the Head of Strategy at the Innovation School. She specialises in strategy and evaluation for clusters, innovation, and triple helix collaborations. At GSA she leads the research and enterprise strategy for the Innovation School, as well as the development and delivery of a portfolio of programmes using design to build the innovative capacity of businesses, public sector organisations and communities.

Madeline was previously Head of Innovation at EKOS (an independent economic development consultancy) leading their work on evaluation and strategy development of innovation and cluster policy. Prior to joining EKOS she worked for Scottish Enterprise leading their approach to clusters and industries strategy, having started her career in industry.

Madeline is a board member for TCI, the global cluster and innovation practitioners’ network, and leads their international working group on cluster evaluation.

She is also a Non-Executive Director of NHS24 and the Scottish Ambulance Service and sits on the board of the Construction Scotland Innovation Centre.
