About the event
If you are a Digital Health SME, start-up or entrepreneur looking to sell directly to healthcare providers or thinking about working with a large corporate partner, this in-person event will help you to understand your customers’ needs. Our agenda includes speakers from Canon Medical Research Europe, Bayer Digital, the Supply Chain Development Programme, 3VRM and NHS National Services Scotland, all of whom will be on hand for networking over lunch. There will also be opportunities for 1:1s with specialists from Scottish Enterprise’s Innovation and Market Research teams, DHI and Techscaler.
Speakers:
Ken Sutherland - Canon Medical Research Europe

Dr Ken Sutherland is a leading engineering figure at the interface between medicine, engineering and the life sciences in Scotland and the UK. His influence in this sector has translated into global medical products that bring benefit to clinicians, patients, researchers, and the medical industry.
In his role as President of Canon Medical Europe, he has secured over £180 million of inward investment from Japan into Scottish R&D over the last 15 years. His current vision in precision medicine is driving new innovations in artificial intelligence/data through collaborations between companies, universities, and the NHS. Ken is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh and has recently been elected as a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering.
David Beattie – NHS National Services Scotland

David has worked with NHS National Services Scotland in the area of National Procurement for 20 years. His organisation supplies all medical and non-medical goods to all of Scotland's 23 health boards via 2 large logistic hubs. They have over 450 national contract frameworks in place covering over £3bn pind per annum.
David's area of procurement deals with truly innovative supplier/academia lead solutions that can transform the acute sector. Solutions such as waiting time reduction, patient backlogs, main diseases affecting the Scottish population and sustainability.
David runs the Scotland Innovates Portal where suppliers and academia can submit their solutions for assessment and potential forward traction.

Dr Abigail Lyons – Digital Health & Care Innovation Centre

Dr Abigail Lyons leads on Industry engagement. She helps companies advance the market readiness of their digital health products & services, connecting them with the right support for their stage of development. She also leads a women’s health theme, with a focus on cardiovascular health data. Abby qualified in Immunology and Molecular Biology and her subsequent career has woven through the triple helix of industry, academia and the public sector in Scotland and the US.
She worked as a postdoc researcher at the Mayo Clinic and a product development scientist in the Cardiac Surgery division of Medtronic in Minnesota. More recently, she was a programme manager at Scottish Enterprise where she managed complex multi-partner initiatives across a range of sectors and led collaborative teams to commercialise customer-centric technologies and spin-out investor-ready companies.
