Digital Health Leadership Programme: NHS Digital Academy Cohort 5

We are pleased to inform you that the application process is now open for Cohort 5 of the NHS Digital Leadership Academy which is run by Imperial College London in partnership with The University of Edinburgh and Health Data Research UK (HDR).  The closing date for applications is 11:59pm on Friday 29 May 2022 and it is anticipated successful applicants for Cohort 5 will commence their learning in September 2022.  We welcome applications from across health, care, housing and the third sector.

Eligibility

Development of Digital Leadership at all levels is an integral part of the Digital Health & Care Strategy for Scotland and we will look to further our Digital Leadership aims as part of Workforce Capability in the forthcoming Strategy refresh.

This senior level programme is targeted at individuals who are operating within a context/role where they are required to drive and implement practical digital transformational change within their organisation or system or aspiring leaders who can demonstrate their ambition to lead digital transformation.  Applicants will need to evidence this in their application.

Costs and Funding

The cost of participating in this one year programme is £20,000 per person.  The Scottish Government have agreed to fund 50% of the costs for five applicants (£10,000) per person.  Prospective applicants will need to ensure that they have a local Executive Sponsor and a commitment from their organisation to meet the other 50% of the funding.

Application & Selection Process

For ease of reference a copy of the application booklet is attached alongside a Word version of the application form which should be downloaded and completed for agreement by your Executive Sponsor in advance.

Final and approved applications should be submitted using this online link.

Scottish Government are investing in the development of a Scotland Led Digital Health and Care Transformation Leadership Masters Programme.

This programme led by NHS Education for Scotland will support a cohort of 60 participants and is planned to start in early 2023. Expected completion of this Masters programme would be 3 years and participants may chose an earlier exit e.g., after completing the PGCert or PGDip.  Full funding will be provided for up to 60 participants for PGCert (year 1) and PGDip (year 2). For those participants who intend to complete the full masters (year 3), funding for the third year will be provided by the employing organisation.

Candidates who are successful in gaining a place within Cohort 5 of the UK Programme will be required to support, share experiences and be part of the learning network for the Scottish Programme.  This may include face-to-face networking events that will be part of the Scotland led programme held in a central location in Scotland. Candidates should confirm this with their executive sponsor as part of their application.
